Sizing a boom lift

Start with work height, not platform height. Work height adds roughly 2.0 m for a person standing in the basket. A unit rated at 18.0 m work height puts your hands near 18.0 m and your feet near 16.0 m. Measure the real target before you request a size.

Outreach decides whether you clear the obstacle. Our 18.90 reaches 9.0 m horizontally; the 22.10 reaches 10.0 m. You use outreach to work over a hedge, a parked truck, or a building edge without moving the base. When the base cannot sit directly under the work, outreach matters more than raw height.

Check basket capacity against the crew and their tools. Both units carry 230 kg. Two workers with a bag of gear reach that limit fast. Count bodies, tools, and materials in kilograms, then leave a margin. Overloading the basket is the fastest way to lose a working day.

These are tracked, articulating machines, sometimes called spider lifts. Tracks spread the load and cross soft ground, gravel, and slopes that a wheeled unit cannot. The articulating arm bends at a knuckle, so you tuck up and over obstacles instead of only reaching straight out. That flexibility suits tree work, signage, and building faces. Tell us the ground and grade, and we confirm the unit sits safely.

Rent when the job runs days or a few weeks, or when you need this height once or twice a year. Buying makes sense when a unit earns its keep across many months, and you carry storage, servicing, and transport yourself. As a rough rule, if annual rental days pass roughly 60 to 70, price a purchase. Factor transport to and from your site into either path. Any figure we quote is indicative until we confirm your dates and site. Request a unit and we will size it with you.
